John Porter
Vice President
John’s first interaction with the Milton J. Wood Company was shortly after its formation in August 1969, when he called Milton Wood to ask him to bid on a shutdown project at Alton Paper, where he worked as a plant engineer. The project was successful and resulted in extended work at Alton Paper and other paper mills in the area. In 1976, John decided to join the Company, and although lacking construction estimating experience, his engineering expertise and paper mill experience proved to be a tremendous boost to the Company’s paper mill business. Under John’s leadership, the Company moved into performing major paper mill expansion projects, including mill power plant construction and several complete paper machine rebuilds. John retired from the Company in 1998, after 22 years of dedication, commitment, and hard work, all of which served as a great example to others and created a solid foundation for the Company as we know it today.
